The most beautiful roads in Belgium for a road trip

If you have a few days to explore Belgium, there’s no better way to do it than in a comfortable rental car from Europcar, which takes you wherever you want to go. You’re not tied to public transport, so you can experience Belgium in a way that’s usually not possible for tourists. Below are some ideas for cool road trips that take you to the most beautiful and fascinating places in Belgium. Full of adventurous stops and sights, and in between, it’s a delightful tour!
Project 100 years of the Great War
Part of this project, created to commemorate the First World War, are six mapped-out routes that take you past impressive World War I monuments and sights. For example, there’s the Yser Front Route, which starts in Nieuwpoort and ends in Diksmuide. The sights you encounter along the way tell the story of the Battle of the Yser. You pass by the Ganzenpoot, several military cemeteries, the Museum at the Yser, and the Trench of Death. Another option is the No Man’s Land Route, which starts and ends at the visitor center in Diksmuide. This is a 68-kilometer route that takes you past monuments that serve as a reminder of the battle that took place between Diksmuide and Langemark, including the Yser Tower, Carrefour des Roses, and the military cemetery in Houthulst.
Through Flanders
In four days, you drive the 600 kilometers of the Tour of Flanders. You go through the Liefkenshoek Tunnel under the Scheldt, and then pass by the Grand Markets of Sint Niklaas, Dendermonde, and Aalst. You visit the Wall of Geraardsbergen, the town hall of Oudenaarde, and the Velodrome of Roubaix. Then you head to the Menin Gate in Ypres, visit the Yser Tower in Diksmuide, and stop by the Royal Galleries of Ostend. Finally, you take in the picturesque Bruges (make sure to watch the movie ‘In Bruges’ beforehand!), before heading back to your starting point.

From Tilff to La Roche
On this route, you travel from Tilff to beyond La Roche, with Houffalize as your final destination. The total route is about 130 kilometers, a delightful trip you can do in a day, but also spread over several days. Along the way, you travel through the beautiful Ourthe Valley – this area is beautiful all year round, but is breathtaking in the fall when the trees along the roadside display all colors. Seated in a comfortable car, you will be amazed! There are beautiful viewpoints along the Ourthe and around the Nisramont reservoir, and for adventurers, there’s also the opportunity to go kayaking on the Ourthe. Once you reach your final destination, you must not miss the medieval castle of La Roche!
From Gaume to Bastogne
This route starts in Bastogne and takes you to Gaume, also known as the Provence of Belgium. You’ll find vineyards everywhere here! Along the way, you drive through the land of the Gaumois and see places like Neufchâteau, Virton, and Torgny. The landscape is beautiful, and everywhere you see castles, old churches, and Roman buildings. Most of the journey runs through the stunning Semois Valley. The view you can enjoy from your car during this trip makes this road trip an unforgettable experience!
From Limbourg to Vielsam through the Ardennes
With this 210-kilometer car route, you cross the Ardennes and see many of the highlights. This route is perfect for the whole family, as it’s full of fun outings. You start in Limbourg and drive to Verviers, a charming town known for its wool trade.
