The DS brand originated as a subsidiary of the renowned French automotive company Citroen in 2009. Eventually, DS stepped out on its own, releasing its unique brand of cars in Europe in 2014. DS cars are modelled on the iconic Citroen DS 19. The name DS stands for Different Spirit or Distinctive Series, but it is also reminiscent of the French word ‘déesse’ which means ‘goddess’.
